By insinuating that the reader will have doubts, he already makes the reader uncertain if the information portrayed throughout the book was real or fictional. Although he does not see the reader, Hamid insinuates that the reader does not believe him although he can see the reader’s expression. This approach is effective in convincing the reader to think broadly and be more reluctant to side with the propositions made by the reader. By asserting “…you should not imagine that we Pakistanis are all potential terrorists, Hamid is able to convince the American and readers to be reluctant to accept ideas given by people as the ultimate truth (Hamid, 2007).

Hamid’s approach assists the reader to convey meaning about a number of ideologies that have lain out in the book, and not just stick to a definite interpretation. It leaves one to question the ideologies long enough to make up his mind on whether the statements made by the author are believable. Hamid presents a thought-provoking ending that leaves its readers with the choice to develop their own conclusions. ReferenceHamid, M. (2007). The Reluctant Fundamentalist. New York: Harcourt, Inc.
