Achieveing a successful career throughout college is a challenging pursuit. There are many distractions on first arrival at college and determining what is beneficial to oneself can be a trial. This is normally the case when an individual attends college. It is their first opportunitiy to truly walk their own path. They don't actually need to show up to class but should because it will helo them succeed. This freedom is much anticipated but without some organization can prove to be a disaster.

I have not fallen trap to this but have kept myself on my choosen path. I have a very ambition education goal and know that with my attitude and perseverance I will be a great success. I have some very lofty goals that I know are challenging but I am on the right path. Currently I am working towards becoming a Clinical Physcologist. I am attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a freshman. I am highly ambitious as I will be completing 26 credits for my 1st semester (normally coursloads run from 15-20 credits).

I have sustained a high level of achievement throughout all of my academic career, my many awards and honors include Honor roll (200-2006), Who's Who Among American High School Students, High School student achievement award (2004 and 2006), Student of the month (2004), National Honor Society(2004-2006), and Kiwanis Club certificate of Scholastic achievement (2003). I have not only excelled in academics but in sports as well as participating in community service. I was awarded the Bradford athletic award for volleyball in 2003 and have volunteered at the lions club and Shalom Centre, where I have helped serving meals as well as helping those in need.

I am an excellent candidate for the scholarship awarded by the Slovak American Charitable Association. I am the third generation of my family to be a member of the "First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association". I am proud of who I am and where my family has come from. Besides being an American I am also part of the Slovak culture. My heritage does not set me apart from others but only builds on who I am and has shaped me into the person I am and will continue to mold who I will become in the future.

Unfortunately I will be transferring to my hometown college next year. My mothers' health is declining and it is vitally important for me to be as close to her as I can. I would not be able to perform academically to my best if I was constantly worrying about her health. I feel that I can perform to my high standards if I am close to home and my mother. Additionally, college is financially very expensive attending the University of Wisconsin and in today's economic state I do not want to obtain more debt than absolutely necessary.

All funds would be used for my educational development. It is always difficult to choose that student to receive each award. I feel I am unique in that I fit all of the Associations guidelines to a T. My chosen field even overlaps with the associations good works at the Rolling Hills Campus in Zion, IL, nursing and rehabilitating the elderly. My area would be of use in the psychology arena, particularly some forms of psychosis that specifically develop as individual ages. I also feel strongly about helping those in need as can be seen by my volunteer work and my geographic move to be closer to my mother.

I know I will excel in my educational pursuits and would be an asset to any association, group or organization.
