The greenhouse effect is spontaneous and it creates an enabling environment for the earth to maintain a high temperature and unstable climate. The concentration of greenhouse gases has been made worse by human activities like the burning of fossil fuel, industrial processes, and deforestation. As a matter of fact, human activities account for most of the climate change as compared to natural factors (Nordhaus, 1993). As a result of the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, more and more infrared radiation is captured consequently causing changes in the sea level, air temperature, rainfall patterns and melting of glaciers in mountains (Central European University, 2009).

This project looks at the issue of climate change as a major concern in the contemporary world. Climate change has had a traumatizing impact on the global environment with developing countries feeling most of the pain since they lack the capacity to address the effects of the same. As a matter of fact, scientists, environmentalists, and advocates of environmental justice state that if the current conditions of climate change are not reversed, the situation will worsen which means loss of more lives, more heat-related diseases, more intensive storms, and more severe effects.

To understand the problem of climate change and why it is a major global concern, the study first discusses the causes of the condition then its impacts and the responses that various interest groups have undertaken to address the issue. The topic of climate change was chosen as a result of the need to address the issue. The researcher felt obliged to tackle the issue which is aimed at informing the society of researchers and scholars on this globally biting condition and recommend ways of addressing it.

The ethical dimensions of climate change are intensively focused on in the area of climate ethics.
