?On Myself and Intentions I am applying for admission to the prestigious Masters in Business Administration Program of the of Massachusetts in Boston. I believe I have the competence and acceptable attitude, industry, motivation, and ambition to be accepted to the program. I have obtained a GPA rating of 3.69 versus the maximum score of 4.0. To my knowledge, this score is considered outstanding in many colleges and universities in the United States. The score indicates that I can absorb the education that the University of Massachusetts can offer. I have been in the dean’s list for several semesters of my undergraduate years. Thus, the data confirms my probable acceptable qualifications to be in the program. I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Boston in Management Information System wherein I received a few awards during my student years. This indicates my efforts to contribute something positive to the community and organization I am in. My efforts to succeed in my academic work also comprise my attempt to contribute something worthwhile to the society and to the world I live in. I believe that by being good in my intended profession, studies and work, I will be contributing something useful to my fellow human beings. I earned good grades even though I was a working student. I believe that this fact strongly indicates my capability to do several tasks simultaneously and accomplish those tasks either excellently or outstandingly. In my view, my results could have been even better if I had been a fulltime student. We have financial constraints, but I did not allow the constraints to become obstacles in my drive to succeed. At work, my ability to be a leader has been proven many times. Notwithstanding my academic obligations (as a working student), I was promoted several times. In some cases, however, I politely refused higher responsibilities to be good at least in my academics. My working student status during the many years of my I studies should be considered from two perspectives. Firstly, this means that I have the capacity to undertake multiple tasks in the work that I choose, i.e. engage in multi-tasking. I believe that this is important in business professions as the globalizing world and market require that key personnel must be good both in his or her national market and also worldwide because the are active competitors not only in the home market but also abroad: competitors can easily enter the national market as borders are broken down by internet technology and advances in communications and transportation. Secondly, this also means that I am resourceful and industrious. I have the ability to solve problems and dilemmas as they come and handle the stresses and difficulties well. This indicates that I also have the stamina to handle pressures and various ups and downs of life and profession. I believe that the two traits will enable me to succeed not only as a MIS but also as a professional business administrator. I also have the basic skills that are required to succeed in a globalizing world. I am multi-lingual; I am fluent in Romanian, English, and French and have reached the intermediate level in Spanish. This implies that I am capable to oversee work in several continents of the world such as South and North America, East and Western Europe, Asia, and Africa. I can design management information systems that enable management to monitor developments and key economic indicators in key countries and places to keep managers informed and abreast of the risks facing their businesses in key countries of the world. I deeply believe that a key challenge of the 21st century MIS is to design management information systems that enable managers to administer across several countries remotely and in such a manner that critical information is delivered fast, timely, efficiently, appropriately, or in formats easily applied by management and in the most relevant way. The latter is extremely important because a mass of information can be provided to management, but the information may not be the most crucial to business operations and management. Data may also come in such formats that management is left in the dark how of crucial the information can be used in the day-to-day operations and management of a business. I have a deep interest in grasping the theories in any profession that I choose. I consider the principles and theories of any discipline to be useful for understanding deeper a problem. I firmly believe that understanding deeper the multiple dimensions of a problem and grasping the problem from several perspectives are crucial to the solution of any problem, and this is why I have devoted myself to studying for fairly long time. I consider studying as a commitment that must be pursued both in one’s life as a student and as a professional, and this is the reason why I have always endeavored to study well. Relating to this, I hereby commit to study well and be a better if not an outstanding student in the MBA program of the University of Massachusetts. Yet, at the same time, I consider student life as something that must be balanced between studying and having genuine friendships with schoolmates as I consider my peers as my potential work colleagues and professional peers in the years to come. I believe I can learn from people I come into contact and work with. In relating with friends and peers, I try to live up to the golden principle of teamwork and sharing any knowledge that I acquire in any endeavor – whether at work, at play, or enjoying each other’s company. In particular, I want to be friends with my fellow students, teachers, and classmates at the University of Massachusetts. In my undergraduate years, I have enjoyed the warmth and genuine affection of my classmates and friends at the University of Massachusetts, and I am sure that this will also be the case in the MBA program. I believe that taking up the MBA program at the University of Massachusetts will raise my competence as a professional by several notches. The profession of an MIS specialist revolves around reviewing management information systems, identifying their weaknesses and limits, and designing better systems based on management objectives and management need for the most crucial and relevant information. An effective MIS system must enable management to keep pace with the current situation as well as to be abreast of which directions a situation is heading in. The information provided by a good MIS system must be on what is the most relevant for the crucial management decisions on directions and operations. Otherwise, an MIS will only clog the decision making process of irrelevant data and affect good managerial decisions, thereby considerably paralyzing company operations. On the other hand, I believe that the MBA program that I will learn from the University of Massachusetts will enable me to be a better business manager. It will provide me with the key tools that I need to make good business decisions. Most important, I am confident that the University of Massachusetts will provide me the key for refining the skills that I need to be a better business manager. I have a good and solid background in economics and accounting, but I deeply believe that the University of Massachusetts MBA Program will provide me the retooling and skills upgrading that I need. In the last few years, I have developed a keen interest in the business applications of the MIS. I have found out that the crucial role of the MIS in both government and business applications, so why not use MIS for business and get a few or a lot of dollars richer through a stronger familiarity with business management that can be provided by an MBA program? I believe that my MIS background would enable me to strengthen business links between the United States and the continent or region that I come from. I hope to contribute to the expansion and deepening of the trade between the United States and my country of origin. I deeply believe that my country and the United States will mutually benefit from the increased trade and deepening economic relations that can profit from the modest contribution that I can make in the immediate, mid-term or distant future. I also have a great interest in strengthening security cooperation between the United States and my country of origin, particularly in the area of intelligence gathering and MIS systems for security and related concerns. I believe there is a lot of room for improving security relations between my country of origin and the United States. I can probably contribute in this area of MIS design aiding MIS integration or semi-integration of intelligence information between the United States and my country of origin. In addition, if given a chance, I will also be happy to stay and live in the United States. In summary, I have great dreams, and my competence in the field is solid enough to apply for the University of Massachusetts MBA Program. My dreams will only come true in the best format possible if I am accepted to the University of Massachusetts MBA Program. Read More
